Richie Hawtin returns as the poster-boy for advancing digital DJing (hell, even regular DJing -- do you remember Decks, EFX and 909?) to announce a new collaborative effort to formally introduce the Apple line of portable wifi-capable touch-screen devices to the DJing community. Griid is basically a software interface that allows the iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch to act as an Ableton controller.
Personally, I don't see the appeal of it versus using any other Apple product as a controller, aka a Macbook Pro. People will still look like they are twittering when staring at an 8-inch screen. And you get no physical feedback, either!
Soon DJs will use their MINDS as controllers. Wouldn't that be sweet? (answer: no)
